Course Equivalencies

Students who have taken the courses in each bullet point below are considered to have taken the equivalent STATS class for the purposes of prerequisites, but not for the purposes of credit.

STATS 110

Other courses that satisfy prerequisite:

  • ECON 102A
  • CME 106

Note that STATS 110 is taught in R, so courses with STATS 110 as a prerequisite may assume knowledge of R. Students are recommended to take STATS 32 to catch up on R.

STATS 141

Other courses that satisfy prerequisite:

  • HUMBIO 88
  • ECON 102A
  • CME 106

Note that STATS 141 is taught in R, so courses with STATS 141 as a prerequisite may assume knowledge of R. Students are recommended to take STATS 32 to catch up on R.

STATS 117

Other courses that satisfy prerequisite:

  • STATS 116
  • CS 109
  • MS&E 120
  • MATH 151

ECON 102A does not cover probability at the same depth as STATS 117.

STATS 118

Other courses that satisfy prerequisite:

  • STATS 116
  • MATH 151

CS 109 and MS&E 120 do not cover probability at a mathematical level comparable to STATS 118.

STATS 191

Other courses that satisfy prerequisite:

  • ECON 102B

Note that STATS 191 is taught in R, so courses with STATS 191 as a prerequisite may assume knowledge of R. Students are recommended to take STATS 32 to catch up on R.

Math 51

Other courses that satisfy prerequisite:

  • MATH 51
  • MATH 61CM
  • MATH 61DM
  • CME 104
  • MATH 104
  • MATH 113
  • ENGR 108

CME 100 does not cover linear algebra at a comparable level to MATH 51. Students with credit in CME 100 are advised to take ENGR 108 or MATH 104.

Math 104

Other courses that satisfy prerequisite:

  • Math 113
  • ENGR 108
CS 106A

Other courses that satisfy prerequisite:

  • DATASCI 112
  • DATASCI 154

CS 106B is taught in C++, so it is not a good substitute for CS 106A.
