The IEEE Board of Directors has selected Professor Candès along with his colleagues Terence Tao at UCLA and Justin Romberg at the Georgia Institute of Technology as co-recipients of this award in recognition of outstanding achievements in signal processing. Created in 1995 for Kilby, whose innovation was a monumental precursor to the development of the signal processor and digital signal processing, the citation accompanying this unique honor reads: "For groundbreaking contributions to compressed sensing."
The IEEE Awards Program pays special tribute to those whose exceptional achievements have made a lasting impact on technology, society, and the engineering profession. Emmanuel reports being humbled to join a distinguished group of previous recipients and extremely happy that he shares it with Professors Romberg and Tao. Congratulations!
