2025 Rao Prize awarded to Trevor Hastie

The C. R. and Bhargavi Rao Prize honors outstanding and influential innovations in the theory and practice of mathematical statistics, international leadership in directing statistical research, and pioneering contributions by a recognized leader in the field. Awarded in odd-numbered years by the Department of Statistics at Penn State University, previous recipients include Brad Efron, Grace Wahba, Herman Chernoff, and most recently David Siegmund in 2023.

Trevor will accept his prize and deliver the keynote address titled "Univariate-guided Sparse Regression" at the Rao Prize Conference hosted by Eberly College of Science on May 20th. Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition!
