Fukuyama and Holmes noted for research profiled by SoM News

Third-year PhD student Julie Fukuyama and Statistics professor Susan Holmes were among the coauthors of a paper recently profiled by the School of Medicine News Center. The study, published online September 22nd in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, is the first to examine the reactions of immune cells taken from pregnant women to influenza viruses, and has generated an unexpected finding that may explain why they get sicker from the flu than other healthy adults.
