MS student Colleen Dai on champion hacking team

For the third year in a row, Stanford's Applied Cyber team placed first at the Collegiate Penetrating Testing Competition at the Rochester Institute of Technology, beating out nine college hacking teams from around the world. Colleen is a Master's student in the Statistics Department and attributes her team’s success during the three days of challenges to strong technical training as well as camaraderie. "It means a lot to win," she said. "[The victory] has a lot to do with our team dynamics and how well we work together." The Stanford team distinguished itself by uncovering two previously unknown software vulnerabilities, reporting and then repairing them within 24 hours.
