Sourav Chatterjee elected Royal Society Fellow

In their official announcement today, the Royal Society named the exceptional scientists who will make up the newest cohort of Fellows of the UK’s national academy of sciences. Selected for substantial contributions, these individuals have pushed forward the boundaries of their respective fields and had a beneficial influence on the world beyond. Sir Adrian Smith, President of the Royal Society, added that they are pioneering scientists and innovators "who have confounded expectations and transformed our thinking." Sourav has been recognized for the range of his work across probability, statistics, and mathematical physics, as well as for being a formidable problem-solver. This latest achievement, highlighting the impact of his work within the wider international scientific community, is a tremendous honor that the Statistics Department is truly happy to report.
