Ya Xu named on Fortune 40 Under 40

Fortune's list of 40 emerging leaders is revamped for 2020 to highlight influential people in five separate categories: finance, technology, healthcare, government and politics, and media and entertainment. Stanford Statistics PhD alumna Ya Xu (2010) appears in the new technology category and our department is happy to spread the word!

While communities around the world are keeping their distance and sheltering at home, Fortune set out to find industry innovators who are focused on using technology to build connections. As head of data science at LinkedIn, Xu and her team create strategies for managing that information to help users with professional networking while maintaining their privacy, and even ensure that AI systems avoid providing biased results to job searches. Xu is also the co-lead of LinkedIn’s internal Women in Technology group.
