Statistical Consulting Services

The Department of Statistics offers free statistical consulting to members of Stanford's broader research community during each academic quarter.

Consultants meet with clients in person at a dedicated space in Sequoia Hall during drop-in hours established for that quarter. Consultation hours are posted here during the second week of classes.

Under the supervision of a senior faculty member, graduate students are available to assist with a broad range of research questions, in areas such as:

  • Experimental design and data acquisition
  • Data exploration, analysis, and interpretation
  • Data modeling and model fitting
  • Statistical inference for estimation, testing, and prediction

Students taking statistics courses should understand that this is not a tutoring service.

Starting in the second week of classes, clients have the option to contact us (via a form linked below) to provide an advance description of their research problem as well as which consulting session they plan to attend.
